best rtx 4060 gaming laptop

There are many gaming laptops in the market with an NVIDIA RTX 4060 laptop GPU. Picking the best one can be confusing. Unlike those powered by RTX 4090 or 4080 laptop GPU, an RTX 4060 laptop offers affordability without sacrificing power and can deliver gameplay above 60fps on average. In this article, we list the best RTX 4060 gaming laptops currently available. Each option varies in display size, features, and components, so choose the one that best fits your needs and budget.

ASUS ROG Strix G16 G614JV Gaming Laptop

Let’s begin with the best overall RTX 4060 gaming laptop, which is the Asus ROG Strix G16 gaming laptop. It’s a sleek gaming machine with gaming-centric features and aesthetics, and the best part is it comes in two configurations.

The first option is the cheaper and more affordable ROG Strix G16, model G164JV-AS73. This model boasts a 16-inch full HD display with a refresh rate of 165Hz. Powering this machine is a 13th gen Intel Core i7-13650HX 14-core CPU, paired with an RTX 4060 laptop GPU at 140W max TGP. It comes with 16GB DDR5 memory and 512GB SSD for storage. Upgrading the storage to a higher capacity is easy. In terms of connectivity, it offers some of the latest options like Wi-Fi 6E, Thunderbolt 4, etc.

Asus ROG Strix G16 (G614JV-ES94)

On the contrary, the ROG Strix G16, model G614JV-ES94, shares many similarities with the other model but boasts superior hardware. This variant features a 13th-generation Intel Core i9-13980HX 24-core mobile CPU and showcases an enhanced display – Asus’ ROG Nebula. Its 16-inch display offers a QHD+ resolution of 2560×1600, boasting a refresh rate of 240Hz, Dolby Vision HDR, and superior color accuracy and coverage compared to the G164JV-AS73 model. Essentially, the G614JV-ES94 model outperforms in CPU speed and offers a superior display, albeit at a higher price point than the other model.

MSI Katana 17 B13VFK RTX 4060 Gaming Laptop

If you prefer a larger display at a more affordable price point, consider the MSI Katana 17, model B13VFK-835US. It boasts a 17.3″ full HD 1080p display with a refresh rate of 144Hz. The current listing includes a 13th-generation Core i7-13620H 10-core processor, 32GB DDR5 memory, and 1TB NVMe SSD. While it offers a decent selection of input and output ports, it lacks support for Thunderbolt 4, featuring only a USB 3.2 Gen 1 port. The design of the Katana 17 is simple, featuring RGB backlit keyboards and a straightforward outer clamshell design.

However, the Katana 15, model B13VGK-484US, offers a more powerful RTX 4070 but features a slightly smaller 15.6″ 1080p FHD 144Hz display and 16GB DDR5 memory. Surprisingly, it is currently priced lower than the Katana 17 with RTX 4060. I’m unsure why this price difference exists, but opting for the Katana 15 RTX 4070 seems like the better choice for me. If you require more than 16GB of memory later on, you can easily upgrade it. However, upgrading from RTX 4060 to RTX 4070 is not possible. Keep in mind that you’ll have to settle for a 15.6″ display instead of 17.3″.

Acer Predator Helios 16 (PH16-71-74UU) RTX 4060 Gaming Laptop

Next, we have the Acer Predator Helios 16 gaming laptop, boasting a 16-inch QHD 165Hz display and powered by a 13th gen Intel Core i7-13700HX 16-core mobile CPU. While the Helios 16 may lack the extravagance of the ROG Strix G16, it offers a slightly superior mobile CPU and display compared to Asus’ G614JV-AS73 model. Additionally, it comes equipped with 16GB DDR5 memory, a 1TB Gen4 SSD, and features Killer Wi-Fi 6E for wireless connectivity options.

The Predator Helios 16 offers solid build quality and a reliable cooling solution. Its input-output ports are positioned on the sides and back of the laptop. While there isn’t extensive RGB lighting, except on the keyboard and rear portion, it remains a well-balanced RTX 4060 laptop that delivers strong performance without the higher price tag of the ROG G16 G614JV-ES94 model.

Lenovo LOQ RTX 4060 Gaming Laptop

Consider Lenovo’s LOQ gaming laptop, equipped with an RTX 4060 GPU, if you value excellent keyboard performance, a hallmark of Lenovo laptops. This model offers a 15.6″ 1080p display with a 144Hz refresh rate, akin to the Asus TUF and MSI Katana. However, it stands out with 32GB of memory and a 2TB SSD, with the flexibility to customize memory and storage configurations. An Intel Core i7-13700H, a 14-core CPU, powers this RTX 4060 laptop. Its connectivity options are also basic, lacking Thunderbolt 4 compatibility.

Asus TUF Gaming A17 ( FA707NV) RTX 4060 Gaming Laptop

Consider the Asus TUF Gaming A17, model FA707NV-ES74, if you prefer an AMD Ryzen-powered gaming laptop. This laptop offers a 17.3″ 1080p 144Hz display, similar to MSI’s Katana 17. It runs on an AMD Ryzen 7 7735HS 8-core CPU and is equipped with NVIDIA’s RTX 4060 laptop GPU at 140W max TGP. Additionally, it includes 16GB DDR5 memory and a 1TB Gen4 SSD.

Its connectivity options are less impressive compared to the ROG Strix G16. It only includes Wi-Fi 6, USB 3.2 ports, and other essential input and output ports. Just remember, like MSI’s Katana laptops, the Asus TUF A17 doesn’t offer the best display. While it features an IPS display, it has a lower brightness level and less accurate color, especially compared to Asus’ ROG Nebula display.

The last two RTX 4060 laptops share similarities, albeit with different CPUs. Consequently, they rank lower than the Asus ROG Strix G16 and Acer Predator Helios 16, which offer better value. They serve as alternatives when budget constraints are a concern, although prices may vary, and occasional deals might be available.
